pledge to pass a healthy homes inspection policy
There is another way to end lead poisoning = a Proactive Rental Inspection Program, or "PRI".
It's pretty simple:
- a landlord registers their address, information about the units, what they charge, and the shape they're in and they commit to keep the units up to code
- a tenant signs up that they live in a unit, what they pay for rent, and the shape the unit is in
The landlord can take training and be able to inspect their own units to make sure they're aware of current policies and procedures to keep the unit safe for the tenants.
This is common sense which is why it's odd that Oakland does not have this policy in place.
Commit to helping pass a PRI policy and prevent things like lead poisoning and the Ghost Ship Warehouse fire from happening again.
