Local Groups to Deliver Petition to Oakland School Board,
Calling for Zero Tolerance Policy for Lead
Since the school year began, lead has been found in water at 45 Oakland schools and daycares. While Oakland Unified has addressed the worst problems, the district is still letting kids drink from fountains that have failed to meet pediatrician guidelines for lead in drinking water. CALPIRG, Healthy Black Families Inc., Color of Change, Green For All, and others will deliver over 1,000 petition signatures calling for a zero tolerance policy for lead in drinking water.
