This is video of a Negative lead test result done by Stephanie Hayden Oct. 29, 2017 at the Extended Stay Oakland/Emeryville hotel. This was one of the first lead tests I conducted so I was getting used to using it and making sure I was doing it right.
I thought it would stay white, at first, so I was waiting to see if it would keep turning color because it turned yellow.
After reading more and doing many more tests since then I know that yellow means you do not have lead in the paint spot you are testing.
The General Manager at this hotel was very happy to know SmartOakland is helping constituents conduct these tests so our information can be seen by a larger audience so we can bring attention to this issue that negatively impacts so many Oaklanders.
Lead poisoning is 100% avoidable so there is no reason for it. Help us test at least 30 homes per month, hopefully many more, and we'll surface the data and work to bring abatement for people in situations that need to be remedied.
